Charlotte Ganahl Walker was a renowned Broadway theater actress from Galveston, Texas, born on December 29, 1876, to Edwin A. Walker and Charlisa De Ganahl Walker. She was the proud mother of character actress Sara Haden.
Charlotte Walker's motion picture career commenced in 1915 with the films Kindling and Out of the Darkness. One of her notable early films was Sloth (1917),a five-reeler that showcased her acting prowess. In the third reel of this film, Walker played a youthful Dutch maid, approximately sixteen years old, in an old Dutch settlement on Staten Island, New York. The film's theme emphasized the perils of indolence to a nation of people, cautioning against the replacement of a simplistic life led by America's forebears with luxury.
In her later silent film work, Walker co-starred alongside the pre-Dracula Bela Lugosi in The Midnight Girl (1925),one of her few surviving silents. As a film actress, Walker continued to perform in films into the early 1930s, with notable roles in Lightnin (1930),Millie (1931),Salvation Nell (1931),and Hotel Variety (1933).
Charlotte Walker passed away on March 23, 1958, at the age of 81, at a hospital in Kerrville, Texas.
