Carly Usdin, a multifaceted creative force, was born in 1982 and has since made a significant impact in the entertainment industry. With a passion for storytelling, Usdin has honed her skills as a director, writer, and producer, leaving an indelible mark on the world of film and television.
Usdin's most notable achievements include directing the 2016 film Suicide Kale, as well as co-creating the comic book series Heavy Vinyl with Nina Vakueva. Her impressive body of work has earned her numerous accolades, including the Jury Prize for Best Director at the Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival for her short film Misdirection in 2019.
In addition to her work in feature films and television, Usdin has spent years crafting short-form narrative and branded content for a diverse range of clients, including Funny or Die, CollegeHumor, Amy Poehler's Smart Girls, World of Wonder, CBS, Fullscreen, Astronauts Wanted, Portal A, TruTV, Viacom, and YouTube.
Some of Usdin's most notable projects include directing the third season of Awkwafina's digital series Tawk, as well as her campaigns for RuPaul's Drag Race, which have garnered a One Show Pencil and multiple Promax BDA Awards.
In 2013, Usdin co-founded Scheme Machine Studios, a digital production studio, with their wife. This venture has enabled them to bring their unique perspective and creative vision to a wide range of projects.
In recent years, Usdin has directed four episodes of the interactive comedy series Wizard School Dropout for Eko, and has been named to the 2019 cohort of Universal's Directors Initiative and the American Film Institute's Directing Workshop for Women, class of 2019.
