Camilla Joy Cynthia Power, an Irish-born English actress, was born on November 13, 1976. Her distant cousin is the renowned actor Tyrone Power, and her great-grandfather, Sir John Power, was a Member of Parliament for Wimbledon before World War II. Power attended the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School in Marylebone and began her acting career at a young age, making her television debut in a chicken nuggets commercial.
Her early screen roles included Sabina Halliday in A Summer Story (1988) and Jill Pole in the BBC Television adaptation of C. S. Lewis's The Silver Chair (1990). Power also appeared in Channel 4's The Manageress (1990) and had parts in Bonjour la Classe (1993) and Moonacre (BBC, 1993),which required her to showcase her horse-riding skills.
From 1993 to 1995, Power was a regular cast member on the Yorkshire Television soap Emmerdale, playing the role of Jessica McAllister. Her stage debut came in 1998 with a theatrical adaptation of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie at the National Theatre, followed by roles in the television dramas Murder in Mind and The Brief.
In 2006, Power joined the cast of the BBC One school-based drama series Waterloo Road as English teacher Lorna Dickey and returned for the second series in 2007. However, her character's storyline took a tragic turn when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and eventually committed suicide. Power's subsequent roles included a guest appearance in the Torchwood episode "From Out of the Rain" (2008) as Pearl, a circus star who seeks revenge on those who put her out of business.
She also appeared in the British action movie The Tournament (2009) as the ruthless assistant to Liam Cunningham's Tournament Master. In 2012, Power had a guest role in two episodes of ITV's drama series Whitechapel. In 2016, she appeared in the episode "Shut Up and Dance" of the anthology series Black Mirror.
