Cameron McCasland is a multi-talented individual, boasting an impressive portfolio as an Emmy-nominated writer, director, and film producer. His feature-length directorial debut, "The Lashman," garnered widespread critical acclaim, earning him the title of Indie Director of the Year at the Indieville TV Awards.
In addition to his film work, McCasland has also produced numerous music videos for prominent musical acts, including Quiet Company, Florida Georgia Line, Big & Rich, Maren Morris, and Chris Lane. These videos have collectively racked up millions of online views and feature several #1 songs on Billboard charts, with appearances in Rolling Stone, Good Morning America, Today, and American Idol.
McCasland's documentary "Dallas Smith: Lifted" was broadcast nationally on CMT Canada, while his short-form documentary web series "I Heard The Devil Say My Name Out Loud" about Austin TX Rock Band Quiet Company took top honors at the Communicator & Omni Awards.
Through his production company, Red Headed Revolution, McCasland partnered with Element Twenty Two to produce three hit feature films, including "More Scenes From A Gay Marriage," "Paternity Leave," and "What's The Matter With Gerald."
As a television director, McCasland has worked on several incarnations of the popular Dr. Gangrene character, appearing on the CW Network, including "Dr. Gangrene's Creature Feature," "Dr. Gangrene Presents," "Dr. Gangrene's Cinetarium," and the award-winning "Go Green With Dr. Gangrene" PSA campaign, which was recognized by the Nashville City Council and Tennessee Governor's office for public service.
McCasland has also toured with a series of award-winning narrative short films, including "Tailypo," "H.P. Lovecraft's The Beast in the Cave," and the western "Prisoner Of Perdition," which were developed into the upcoming feature "Tales From Parts Unknown."
In 2018, he took on a producer role with Addiction Campuses Network in Nashville, TN, developing episodic digital documentary series, including the award-winning "Around The Turn." He also wrote, directed, and produced the feature-length documentary "Jumpin' Johnny" about Harlem Globetrotters Legend Dr. John Kline, which won Best Overall Feature Film at the 2019 Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase and Best Feature Documentary at the Franklin International Independent Film Fest.
Currently, McCasland is developing educational and arts programming for NECAT Network in Nashville, Tennessee, serving as the Director of Content & Member Relations. The non-profit provides content across three broadcast channels in Music City.
Throughout his career, McCasland's work has garnered numerous accolades, including back-to-back honors at the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award for best short film and ten nominations from Nashville's MidSouth Emmy Awards. Born in Texas, McCasland resides in Nashville with his wife and two daughters.
