Boston-born Canadian-based actor, writer, and comic Bernard Robichaud, best known for his role as Cyrus in the hit television series Trailer Park Boys, began his career as a sought-after model. However, a chance encounter with a Toronto talent agent led him to pursue acting, and he enrolled in the Theatre Arts program at Dalhousie University.
Under the guidance of esteemed vocal coach Dorothy Ward and award-winning director Tom Kerr at the prestigious Neptune Theatre, Bernard honed his skills and soon found himself hired to voice the characters of Robert and Becky in the CBC radio drama In Becky's Name. His impressive performance earned him professional status, and he went on to take on a wide range of roles.
Bernard's versatility as an actor has allowed him to transform into both rough and tumble lowlifes and ruggedly handsome good guys. He has performed alongside Hollywood icons such as James Caan and Kathy Bates, and has recently appeared in films like Sea Change and Blue Seduction.
In addition to his acting career, Bernard is also a writer and has penned several screenplays, including Kitchen Sports, an adaptation of his successful 1995 play, and A Woman Scorned, a feature thriller. He has also co-written 13 episodes for the TV sitcom The Adventures of Black Bart.
When not gracing the small or large screens, Bernard tours North America with his stand-up comedy act, It's My Life, Not Yours! The comedy act originated as a portrayal of his character Cyrus, but after his first tour, Bernard realized that comedy was an expression of truth, and he set forth to develop material that would be easily transformed into his real self.
Bernard's unique stories of his life have audiences in stitches, and his ability to find the humor in even the most mundane situations has made him a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
