Anthony Hayes, a talented Australian actor, was born on September 21, 1977. He is best recognized for his portrayal of Jack McLeod in the esteemed Australian television series McLeod's Daughters.
Aside from his acting endeavors, Hayes has also ventured into writing, directing, and producing. He penned, directed, and produced the films Ten Empty, New Skin, and Sweet Dreams. Ten Empty premiered at the 2008 Sydney Film Festival, earning a nomination for the 2007 Queensland Premier's Literary Awards and the 2008 Victorian Premier's Literary Award.
New Skin, released in 2002, won the Dendy Award at the Sydney Film Festival and garnered Hayes an IF Award for best emerging director. Sweet Dreams, also released in 2002, was voted the most popular film by the audience at the St Kilda Film Festival in 2003.
Hayes received AFI and Film Critics Circle award nominations for his performances in The Boys, The Square, and Look Both Ways. He won awards for his roles in Look Both Ways and Suburban Mayhem.
In 1999, Hayes co-founded Rogue Stars Productions with fellow actors Brendan Cowell and Leland Kean. During the filming of The Square, his co-star Joel Edgerton nicknamed him "The King of Western Grit." This moniker later inspired a Facebook page, featuring a collection of movie posters with Hayes' face on them.
