Angelines Fernández, a Spanish actress born in Madrid in 1922, embarked on a tumultuous journey marked by her unwavering support for the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War and later for the Spanish Maquis.
As a consequence of her allegiance to the Spanish Maquis, she was forced to flee her homeland in 1947, initially taking refuge in Cuba before ultimately settling in Mexico.
Following a brief hiatus, Fernández re-emerged onto the Mexican entertainment scene, making her film debut in the mid-1950s and transitioning to television by the end of the decade.
Her most iconic and enduring role, however, was that of Doña Clotilde, affectionately known as "La Bruja del 71," on the beloved Mexican sitcom "El Chavo del Ocho," which catapulted her to widespread fame.
Tragically, Fernández's life was cut short when she succumbed to lung cancer in 1994, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and resilient actress.
