Biography

Angel Kristi Williams, an accomplished filmmaker, was born and raised in West Baltimore, Maryland. At the tender age of 8, her late father gifted her a VHS camcorder, sparking a lifelong passion for the medium. She went on to study visual art, photography, and experimental film, ultimately developing a distinctive voice that harnesses the power of silence and the image to convey powerful stories.

Angel's feature directorial debut, Really Love, produced by MACRO, garnered widespread acclaim, including the Special Jury Recognition for Acting at SXSW, with co-stars Kofi Siriboe and Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing receiving special recognition. The film later premiered at AFI Fest's Special Presentations to rave reviews.

As a Sundance Institute Momentum Fellow and Film Independent Project Involve Directing Fellow, Angel was the recipient of the prestigious Sony Pictures Diversity Fellowship. Her impressive body of work includes directing the episode "Colin in Black and White," for which she won an NAACP Image Award for directing.

Angel has also directed episodes of Naomi for The CW and will helm the season 2 opener of Cherish the Day for OWN. When not working on her latest projects, Angel splits her time between Baltimore and Los Angeles, and holds an MFA in Directing from Columbia College Chicago.
