Amy Marie Yasbeck, an American actress, was born on September 12, 1962, in Blue Ash, Ohio. She graduated from The Summit Country Day School in Cincinnati and later attended the University of Detroit Mercy, where she studied theater.
After moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, Yasbeck's early credits included guest roles on television shows such as Dallas, Spies, Werewolf, J.J. Starbuck, Magnum, P.I., China Beach, and Murphy Brown. She also played Olivia Reed on the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives from 1986 to 1987.
In 1988, Yasbeck starred in the Disney television film Splash, Too, and went on to appear in films such as House II: The Second Story, Pretty Woman, Problem Child, Problem Child 2, The Mask, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Dracula: Dead and Loving It.
From 1994 to 1997, Yasbeck starred as Casey Chappel Davenport on the sitcom Wings, earning a Golden Globe nomination for her performance. In 1999, she married actor John Ritter, with whom she had a son, Noah, born in 1998. Ritter passed away suddenly in 2003 due to an aortic dissection.
Since Ritter's death, Yasbeck has continued to work in film and television, appearing in The Santa Clause 2, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, and The Christmas Chronicles. She has also had guest roles on Two and a Half Men, The Middle, and Modern Family.
As a writer and producer, Yasbeck wrote the book With Love and Laughter, John Ritter, published in 2005, and produced the documentary John Ritter: A Celebration of His Life, which aired on the Hallmark Channel in 2004.
Yasbeck is a strong advocate for heart health awareness and is a member of the board of directors of the John Ritter Foundation, founded in 2003 to raise money for heart research.
