Alison Maclean is a renowned Canadian film director, known for her work in music videos, short films, television episodes, commercials, and feature films. Her impressive portfolio includes the music video "Torn" for Natalie Imbruglia in 1998, the critically acclaimed short film "Kitchen Sink" from 1989, and feature films such as "Jesus' Son" starring Billy Crudup and "Crush" featuring Marcia Gay Harden.
Born in Ottawa, Canada, in 1958 to New Zealand-born parents, Maclean's early life was marked by a strong connection to her cultural heritage. Her parents' international background likely influenced her unique perspective and approach to storytelling.
Maclean's first short film, "Kitchen Sink", a surreal and thought-provoking exploration of suburban life, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1989 and went on to win eight international awards. This early success marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career in the film industry.
In 1992, Maclean relocated to New York, where she continued to develop her craft. Her feature film "Crush" was entered into the 1992 Cannes Film Festival, solidifying her reputation as a talented and innovative director.

In association with Scenarios USA, she is currently directing the winner of the New York "What's the REAL DEAL" contest for 12-22 year olds, "The choices we make" by graduating senior Tiara Bennett of Clara Barton High School in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.
