As a native San Franciscan, I have spent the past 45 years cultivating a diverse and multifaceted artistic practice, with painting serving as a constant thread throughout.
My artistic journey began in earnest during my time as a student at the esteemed San Francisco Art Institute, where I earned my Master of Fine Arts degree and laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to the arts.
Subsequently, I dedicated over three decades to sharing my knowledge and passion for art with others, serving as an Art Professor at various esteemed institutions, including the San Francisco Art Institute, the California State University system, and Mills College.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of showcasing my work in prominent exhibition venues such as the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the UC Berkeley Museum & Pacific Film Archive.
My artistic endeavors have also taken me on a global journey, with my work touring nationally and internationally, including stops in Europe, South America, and Japan.
In recognition of my contributions to the art world, I have been honored with several prestigious awards and honors, including an NEA Grant in 1983, a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1986, and a Flintridge Foundation Visual Artist Award in 1997.
