A ruthless gambler, Sandy Doyle, sets his sights on acquiring the Bar-X Ranch, owned by Rufe Rickson, to further his own clandestine goals. Doyle exploits Rickson's weakness for gambling, anticipating his inability to resist the allure of the game.

Sandy Doyle, a gambler and political leader, seeks to control the Bar-X Ranch to further his own secret activities. He counts on Rufe Rickson's weakness for gambling to achieve his goal. Government investigator Oliver Shea and his assistant Dan Haggerty become embroiled in the conflict when they intervene in a cheating incident and are invited to the Bar-X. Oliver and Helen Rickson, Rufe's daughter, develop romantic feelings, while Dan is pursued by the ranch cook Bell. The prize money for a rodeo race is stolen, and Doyle claims he was paid by Rickson for a debt. Helen confesses to the theft and escapes to clear her father's name and ensure her horse Snowy wins the race.
