In the summer of 1973, Glasgow is plagued by a dustmen's strike, with trash-filled streets and a polluted canal serving as a backdrop for a poignant coming-of-age story. After his friend Ryan tragically drowns during a playful fight, James, a 12-year-old boy, navigates the struggles of his own life, including his dysfunctional family and the harsh realities of growing up.
