Victor Danemore, a wealthy French Riviera resident, passes away unexpectedly from a heart attack. His secretary, Dave Bishop, becomes curious about his employer's life and discovers that even his young wife is unaware of his past and how he acquired his fortune. Bishop's investigation takes him to Vienna and Stockholm, where he uncovers a dark secret: Danemore was blackmailing individuals who collaborated with the Nazis during World War II.
