A homeless duo, Bill and Curly Sue, use their charming scams to get by, not for profit, but to survive. When they deceive Grey Ellison into thinking she hit Bill with her Mercedes, they only aim for a free meal. However, Grey is moved and decides to take them in, despite her fiancé's disapproval. As they spend more time together, Bill starts to believe Curly Sue deserves a stable life with a caring guardian, which makes him consider leaving her with Grey. But Curly Sue has other plans.
