Canadian Pacific background

Canadian Pacific

A rugged surveyor is tasked with charting a path for the Canadian Pacific Railroad, but his mission is met with fierce resistance from a group of fur trappers who seek to derail the project by sparking a Native American uprising.

Tom Andrews finds a crucial pass in the Canadian Rockies for the Canadian Pacific Railway and decides to leave his job to marry Cecille Gautier. However, fur trader Dirk Rourke, who fears the railroad will disrupt his control over the Indians and trappers, tries to stop Tom. The two men fight over Cecille, and Tom asks her to wait for him while he completes his work. Tom discovers Rourke's sabotage and barely survives an explosion. Edith Cabot, the camp doctor, saves his life with a blood transfusion. Cecille learns her father is working with Rourke and rides to warn Tom, but Rourke intercepts her and lies that Tom loves the doctor.
