In this Shakespearean comedy, a brother and sister, Viola and Sebastian, are stranded in a foreign country after a shipwreck. Viola, believing her brother dead, disguises herself as him and becomes a trusted friend to the Count Orsino, who is smitten with the lady Olivia. Olivia, still in mourning, is oblivious to Orsino's affections and falls in love with the disguised Viola, now named Cesario. Meanwhile, a series of misunderstandings and misadventures ensue, involving a bumbling nobleman, a self-important servant, and Olivia's uncle, who leads them to believe she loves them.
