In Bolivia, a film crew led by Spanish director Sebastián and executive producer Costa is producing a movie about Christopher Columbus's early explorations and the treatment of Indians by Spaniards. To save costs, they hire local actors and extras in the Cochabamba area. Initially, the shoot goes smoothly, but tensions rise when a local actor, a prominent activist, becomes involved in the protest against the privatization of the water supply.
