Father Edward Flanagan, an advocate for child rights, decides to establish Boys Town on 200 acres outside Omaha, Nebraska, after a death row prisoner reveals that having a friend as a child could have changed his life. The film follows Flanagan's efforts to reform a troubled boy, Whitey Marsh, who is on a path of delinquency, and his struggles to overcome prejudice and financial challenges.
