On December 6, 1941, nine B-17 bombers departed San Francisco for Hawaii, with the Mary Ann crew led by "Irish" Quincannon. The team, including bombardier Tommy McMartin and co-pilot Bill Williams, who has romantic feelings for a local woman, are professional except for Joe Winocki, a bitter aerial gunner planning to leave the Army Air Corps. The Mary Ann arrives at Hickam Field on December 7, just as the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor.
