Tarzan, the Ape Man background

Tarzan, the Ape Man

In this thrilling adventure, a spirited English colonel's daughter finds herself in the midst of a primal romance when she falls for the majestic and powerful lord of the jungle, who claims her as his own.

The 1934 film has a loose connection to the 1932 original, incorporating lifted footage, including scenes of Weissmuller's vine-swinging. The main character is not referred to as Tarzan, and his iconic yell is borrowed from Weissmuller. The movie also reuses elephants from the original, but replaces the real pygmies with kids from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles. Costumes were salvaged from "King Solomon's Mines" to reuse more stock footage, and the crocodile fight is taken from "Tarzan and his Mate".
