Tamara Drewe, a journalist, returns to her hometown of Ewedown to sell her deceased mother's farm. She reconnects with her childhood sweetheart, Andy Cobb, and begins an affair with Ben Sergeant, a musician who recently broke up with his band. As their relationship deepens, Ben moves to the farm and becomes a beloved figure in the community.
