Duke Wilson, a struggling songwriter, and his showgirl girlfriend Lois Rogers are constantly forced to break off their engagement due to Duke's unfortunate habit of losing money at poker games, ultimately leading Lois to declare their relationship over.

A struggling songwriter and his showgirl fiancée face financial woes due to his poker losses, leading her to call off their engagement. They team up with a wealthy backer to create a new musical comedy, but things get complicated when the backer becomes romantically involved with the showgirl and offers her the lead role. The story takes a surprising turn when the songwriter and his friends get drafted into the military, where they plan to produce the show with the showgirl as the lead. However, the showgirl discovers the true motives behind the production and feels betrayed by her ex-fiancé's selfish move.
