Denise, an obit writer for the Tribune, sees an opportunity to become a reporter when one of the paper's writers dies. She takes over his job, but her excitement is short-lived as she soon discovers a dead body on a late-night jog. The victim's identity is revealed to her by her friend Luke, and she realizes she saw the deceased's obituary in a newspaper the night before the murder. As more obituaries appear, Denise's computer displays mysterious messages, and she begins her own investigation to uncover the truth.
