The Ross brothers, Dick and Carey, travel through post-Civil War era, with Dick consistently saving Carey from his own troubles. After Carey is caught cheating in a poker game, they flee to Canada to evade capture. Dick decides they should join the newly formed Canadian North West Mounted Police, who need skilled horsemen familiar with Indian ways. The police aim to maintain peace with the Blackfoot Indians, but news arrives that Sioux Chief Sitting Bull has entered Canada, seeking to evade capture for the Little Bighorn massacre.
