Capricious Summer

A group of friends, including a retired major and canon, spend a summer day swimming and philosophizing by the river. Their idyllic afternoon is disrupted by a traveling performer, Ernie the Conjuror, who sets up a show for that evening. Ernie's skills are questionable, but his beautiful assistant Anna steals the show. Antonin, who runs the local swimming bath with his wife Katherine, becomes smitten with Anna and spends the night with her in the change room. However, Katherine soon leaves Antonin for Ernie, and the major and canon also develop a romantic interest in Anna.
