John Thompson strangles Eleanor DiCarlo, the manipulative and overbearing mother of his lover Traci, in her bedroom. Through testimony and flashbacks, John comes to realize that Traci was behind his setup and was willing to sacrifice him without hesitation. John is sentenced to 34 years, but his sentence is later reduced to 17 years after he agrees to testify against Traci in her trial.
