The Podolsk cadets, aged in their teens, bravely defended the Ilyinsky line outside Moscow in October 1941, fighting alongside Soviet forces to delay the German advance until reinforcements arrived. Despite being vastly outnumbered, the young men sacrificed their lives in a two-week battle to hold back the superior German forces. The film explores not only the horrors of war, but also the themes of love, friendship, and the transition from adolescence to adulthood, as over 3,500 cadets and their commanding officers fought to protect Moscow.
