A high school English teacher, Darryl Tripp, abandons his newly completed novel in the desert, feeling despair and self-loathing. His motorcycle runs out of fuel, and he finds an unlocked RV, where he meets Amelia Philips, a hospice nurse. However, their meeting is marred by the discovery of a dead body in the RV. Amelia forces Darryl to join her on a journey to unknown destinations, and the two lost souls seek refuge and redemption on New Mexico's back roads in a comedy.
