Woody Allen's character, Tex, a kosher butcher, kills his unfaithful wife Candy after catching her in the act. He dismembers her body and buries it in the desert. However, when a blind woman finds her hand, it miraculously restores her sight. The hand becomes known as the "hand of the Virgin," attracting a massive crowd of miracle-seekers and media attention. Meanwhile, Tex tries to recover the hand before the sheriff finds it and uses it as evidence against him.
