Major William Foster, a haunted American veteran of the Great War, is tasked with protecting archaeologists at their dig in the Foreign Legion. He's joined by Marco Segrain, a charming thief who fled to the Legion to avoid prison. After months of tedium, the unit occupies a village where the archaeologists have discovered a sacred Arab burial site, sparking a Jihad led by El Krim.
