Kate, a former emigrant from the former Yugoslavia, is struggling to find her place in life after a near-fatal health issue. Now irresponsible and self-absorbed, she's exhausting her friends' hospitality and avoiding her overbearing parents. Working at a year-round Christmas store, Kate's boss, Santa, keeps her on due to past loyalty. Kate aspires to a life in musical theater, but her chutzpah alone won't get her there. She meets Tom, who shows her a new side of London and life, but his intentions are not romantic. As Kate develops feelings for him, she must navigate their differences and the reason behind his persistence.
