Joanna Darrow is reconnecting with her daughter and granddaughter while working on smaller cases at her daughter's law firm. She's approached by Cassie Piper, a lawyer accused of insider trading by her own firm, Herrimann, Corrigan and Herrimann, where Joanna used to work. Cassie claims the firm manipulated evidence against her. Joanna decides to take Cassie's corporate case, while her daughter Claire takes her murder case. The murder investigation is complicated by Assistant DA Miles Strasberg, Claire's love interest, who's assigned to prosecute and suggests a pause in their relationship.
