In the 1840s, a New York bank's plan to build a railroad across Mexico sparks a chain reaction of evictions and financial ruin for small farmers in Santa Rita, Durango. Two women, María and Sara, are caught in the crossfire: María, a tough and uneducated farmer's daughter, and Sara, the educated daughter of a bank owner. When María and Sara take matters into their own hands and turn to bank robbery, they become modern-day Robin Hoods, determined to feed the landless and exact revenge on the bank's ruthless henchman, Jackson.
