Jack and Honey Bailey's bankruptcy of their hardware store forces them to relocate with their young family to New Bedford, a small town owned by Jack's affluent family. Shortly after their arrival, Jack is killed in an accident. His mother informs Honey that she cannot continue living with her children due to financial struggles. Determined to provide for her three children, Honey reluctantly leaves them with her mother-in-law while seeking work elsewhere. Set during the Great Depression era, "Wind at My Back" explores the Bailey family's journey through difficult times in Ontario.
