Goldy and Marla are thrilled about their latest catering job at a medieval ball and dinner hosted by Sir Alistair Harrows at Hyde Castle. The event is a fundraiser for Elk Park Prep Academy, where Olive, a fencing demonstrator at the gala, attends school. Sir Alistair, known for his dedication to authenticity, insists that all guests must wear medieval costumes and only invited guests are allowed in. Among the attendees are members of the Elk Park Police Department, including Tom, Mason, and Dave. Uninvited guest US Marshal Gerard Trach, Dave's father, arrives just before a snowstorm traps everyone inside. He questions Tom about his father, Edmund Schultz, who recently escaped from prison. Tom, unaware of his father's whereabouts, is disheartened by the news. The evening takes a dark turn when a murder occurs, leaving Tom to lead the investigation with the help of Mason, Dave, Gerard, and Goldy. As they uncover potential suspects among the guests, they realize that the victim had many enemies. With no one able to leave due to the snowstorm, tensions rise as Tom's father becomes intertwined in the case.
