Akane Tendo meets her future husband, Ranma Saotome, a martial arts prodigy whose gender changes mysteriously when exposed to cold water.

Soun Tendou runs the Tendou Martial Arts School alongside his three daughters: Akane, Nabiki, and Kasumi. Their lives are suddenly thrown into turmoil when Soun reveals that one of them has been promised to a fellow martial artist's son as part of their family legacy. When Ranma Saotome, Genma's daughter, and her father arrive, the Tendou family is stunned by the discovery that Ranma transforms into a girl upon coming into contact with water, while Genma becomes a panda. Follow Ranma on his journey as he deals with his engagement to Akane, the youngest Tendou sister, and navigates the challenges of life in Ranma ½.
