Flight 1549 departed New York City on January 15, 2009, but an engine failure forced pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River. Despite no serious injuries, Sully faced intense scrutiny from the NTSB, which concluded the plane could have reached the airport and one engine was still functioning. Sully remained adamant that the engines were indeed out and attempting to land at the airport would have resulted in a catastrophic crash.
