Larry Coe, an architect, and his wife Eve live a mundane life in the suburbs with their two young sons. He's working on a unique house for writer Roger Altar on a hilltop. Meanwhile, Maggie Gault, a neglected wife, lives nearby with her husband Ken and young son. Larry and Maggie meet at a bus stop and begin an affair, falling deeply in love.
