A young woman, Dinda, leaves her past behind to build a new life with her partner, Kale. As they navigate their relationship, Kale's desire to protect Dinda evolves into a sense of belonging. Both having been hurt in their past, Dinda longs for love and Kale makes a conscious effort to provide it. Over the course of two years, the story jumps back and forth between the present and the past, as Kale tries to break free from his father's mistakes and Dinda struggles to find patience, a quality she admires in her mother. However, as time passes, Kale's need to protect Dinda turns into a desperate attempt to hold on, only to discover that the woman he loves has grown up and made choices he never imagined, including an affair.
