In the impoverished Fontainhas slums of Lisbon, a desperate young mother makes the heart-wrenching decision to entrust her newborn child to its irresponsible father, grappling with the weight of her own mortality.

Pedro Costa's film Ossos is a poignant portrayal of young lives shattered by desperation. A suicidal teenage girl gives birth and, in a misguided decision, leaves her baby in the care of the troubled and irresponsible father. As the father's violent actions unfold, the film takes the viewer on a tour of the crumbling shantytown where they live, a foreboding and devastated community.
