Former competitive figure skater Tonya Harding, from a disadvantaged background in Portland, Oregon, struggled to gain acceptance in the figure skating community due to her lack of traditional qualities. Despite achieving success as a national champion, world medalist, and Olympian, she is infamous for her association with the 1994 leg-bashing attack on Nancy Kerrigan.
