Charlie Chan on Broadway

A former singer, who had avoided testifying against her criminal associates in Europe, is murdered to keep her from revealing incriminating secrets from her diary.

On a transatlantic liner, Billie Bronson secretly places a package in the trunk of Charlie Chan's luggage. Upon arrival in New York, Chan and his son Lee are met by Inspector Nelson and rival reporters Joan Wendall and Speed Patton. Billie, a fugitive from a political scandal, attempts to retrieve the package, but is murdered at a nightclub. As Charlie investigates, a second body is discovered in his hotel room, and the package is revealed to contain Billie's diary. Charlie uses his detective skills to uncover the killer.
