Earth's Moon is home to Moonbase Alpha, a research colony housing over 300 scientists and staff. The base operates several space expeditions and monitors vast atomic waste storage on the Moon's far side. When magnetic radiation causes the waste to explode, the Moon is torn from Earth's orbit and sent drifting into unknown space. The survivors must adapt to their new circumstances, encountering a planet whose inhabitants create a fake attack on their base.
