The true story of the Laconia's sinking by a German U-boat in 1942 is dramatized through the perspectives of six survivors.

Six hundred miles from the African coast, a German U-boat, U-156, sinks the British troopship Laconia in September 1942, resulting in the loss of 1,800 Italian POWs, 80 British civilians, and 268 Polish and British soldiers.
