A humorous follow-up to Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, set in 1850s Australia in the colony of Port Victory. The story follows Jack Dawkins, also known as "The Artful Dodger," who transitions from a pickpocket into a skilled surgeon after his past catches up with him. His nemesis, Fagin, returns to tempt him back into criminal life, but Lady Belle, the Governor's daughter and first female surgeon in the colony, presents a greater threat to his heart. The narrative explores reinvention, betrayal, redemption, and love amid heists, surgeries, soirées, and street violence.
