Tess of the D'Urbervilles

In the late 19th century, Tess Durbeyfield is sent to visit her rich cousin, Alec D'Urberville, after her parents discover their distant relation. Despite initial dislike, Tess is forced by Alec and becomes pregnant after his advances. She gives birth to a child, but it dies. She then moves to a farm, becomes a milkmaid, and marries Angel Clare, who abandons her after learning of her past.
