Young blacksmith Siegfried, unaware of his royal destiny, gains popularity among the Burgundians by slaying their dragon foe, Fafnir. When fortune favors him with a substantial reward, Siegfried neglects the curse affecting the treasure--which now threatens his relationship with Queen Brunhild from Norway.
