Alcia is governed by "Count": numbers etched on individuals representing various life-related figures. Counts determine social status and power within the realm. When a Count reaches zero, it signifies being sent to the Abyss—a place often considered worse than death. Hina's journey begins after witnessing her mother face an uncertain fate in the Abyss due to her negative Count based on distance traveled. Determined to honor her mother’s wishes, Hina embarks on a quest for legendary Aces-heroes from a war that occurred three hundred years ago, bearing a white star alongside their Count. During this journey, Hina meets various characters including Licht Bach, a mysterious masked figure with negative Count but has another positive Count; Nana, the owner of a tavern. Amidst her adventures, she encounters a military soldier who attempts to trick her into combat. Despite her initial misfortune, Licht intervenes and reveals that he also has a white star count associated with an ace hero from the war. Plunderer accompanies Hina's journey as they uncover the mysteries surrounding Alcia, the Abyss, and legendary Aces heroes of past conflicts.
