High school student Homura Suzuko returns to her hometown of Ikebukuro where she grew up. She treasures memories with her childhood friend, Morikawa Chinatsu, and is eager to reconnect once again. However, upon entering the school, she faces difficulty fitting in with her classmates. Determined to improve her social standing, she decides to learn card game WIXOSS. While on her way home, she stops at a card shop and purchases a set for herself. Upon opening it, she discovers that one of the cards can move and speak. The card reads: "Welcome, Selector." Humans chosen as Selectors must battle to regain control of five coins that hold all their memories. If they can reclaim all coins, they win; otherwise, "Lostorage" awaits them. What will happen to Suzuko as she becomes ensnared in this bizarre game? And just like Suzuko and Chinatsu, the friendless Morikawa also finds herself drawn into WIXOSS...
